Women Speak CRE Launches Platform to Amplify Women’s Voices in Commercial Real Estate

The free platform connects women with CRE expertise to speaking engagements and other opportunities.

Nashville, Tenn., January 30, 2025 – Women Speak CRE, a free platform that amplifies the voices of women in commercial real estate, launches its revolutionary platform on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at 10 a.m. C.T. Designed by founder Allison S. Weiss to address the glaring gender gap at commercial real estate events and in media representation, Women Speak CRE connects talented women with opportunities to speak on stages, guest on podcasts, and share commentary with journalists, enabling greater representation in the industry.

Conference organizers, media outlets, podcasters, corporations, and non-profits can use the accessible platform to find and feature brilliant – yet underrepresented – female voices.

“It was a galvanizing moment for me when my good friend DeLea Becker was the only woman speaker out of 14 (~7%) at a one-day CRE conference in Austin.,” Weiss said. “The excuse I often have heard is that ‘there aren’t enough women’ or ‘we don’t know any women who [fill in the blank],’” Weiss said. But I know it’s not a supply problem – it’s a visibility problem. So Women Speak CRE is a visibility platform.”

For women, Weiss said, “Increased visibility creates more opportunities. Over time, it can also equate to a stronger personal brand, greater professional growth, and higher earning potential.”

To that end, GlobeSt. has committed to using the platform to program speakers for their Women of Influence event in July 2025, and other organizations are encouraged to follow suit.

Why Women Speak CRE Matters

Women are severely underrepresented in CRE – especially at the top. They occupy a mere 9% of the C-suite in commercial real estate, according to the New York Times. A 2020 study from the Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) Network found that women in CRE are paid 23.3% less than men.

What’s more troubling for the future of the industry? In Canada and the U.S., men obtain approximately 73% of all real estate-related undergraduate and graduate degrees, creating a gap in the generation of women who could step into the field–a gap that Women Speak CRE aims to bridge, inspiring the next generation of industry leaders.

“We need to attract the next generation of women into CRE. They need to see themselves in us to know what is possible for them,” said Weiss, who also founded CRE Recruiting Inc., a boutique firm with national expertise in placing commercial real estate talent, in 2019.

Women in CRE can access the easy-to-use platform here to create a profile and find opportunities. Conference organizers, the media, and organizations can view Women Speak CRE’s accessible, interactive directory of women in CRE here.

On January 30, 2025, at 2 p.m. C.T., Women Speak CRE will host a celebratory LinkedIn Live event, offering a platform tour, discussing future developments, and answering questions. Attend here.
